Prince Number 627 G 382 N
The photographs in Prince Number 627 G 382 N are taken in four mental hospital in different parts of the world: Finland, Mosambik, Japan and Russia. I took each of the four hospitals as an individual project, and did not force them in the same visual form, but tried to choose a style which reflects the atmosphere of each place.
A common theme in all the pictures is simplicity and the direct precense of the person. When comparing working in different hospitals, one of the most surprising things is that the patients in all the hospitals were equally open and easy to approach. Much bigger differences were found in the surrounding societies. After working in both the richest and the poorest countries in the world I found that the biggest problems were not caused by material issues, but by ignorance, necligence, fear and shame.
