KUTCH – journey to village called Ludia
In 1992 I happened to wander in the village Ludia which is situated in the Kutch desert in India. During my first visit there was an engagement party in the village, and the second time I was there a baby boy was born. For this reason the villagers started to believe that I bring good luck and accepted me as a member of their community.
I was allowed to freely document the everyday life of the village, and take part in the traditional rituals. The simultaniously proud and humble people made a big impression on me. In my exhibition I tried to document the disappearing traditions of the village, and show the beauty and wisdom of these people living in a harsh environment.
