NOTES

A three-part exploration of how religion and sacred imagery shape the way we see and interpret the world.

Anno Illusionis – Time of Illusion was born during my journey around the world. I became aware of how profoundly religion can shape people’s values and their attitudes towards themselves and others.

In the icons of the first part, I explored the elements that make an image sacred: what can be changed, and what must remain for its sacredness to be preserved?

In the section Souls, the faces are placed within different religious symbols, reflecting the ways in which people see and interpret the world through the framework of their own religion.

In the third part, I transferred the faces of people I had encountered during my journey onto stones. Their faces reflected the harshness of everyday life, yet at the same time, faith in something seemed to give people a sense of lightness and continuity.
