An exhibition of photographs of patients of Kellokoski mental hospital. The exhibition was ordered by the Kellokoski mental hospital in Fall 1994, and the photographs were taken in the following winter when I spent long periods in the hospital. After getting to know the patients more closely, I found in them inner strength and incredible honesty.
I tried to show them as themselves, out of hospital environment and out of their role as a patient. The exhibition was held in Summer 1995 as part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the hospital. “Garden Number 12” is a also book based on the exhibition, containing 12 photograhs and 9 short tales.
