This exhibition, or even the portfolio itself, would probably never have existed if a customs officer at Bombay airport had not stolen my films. Months of work disappeared into the black market of the metropolis. All I had left were three strips of negatives, developed in expired chemicals. From them came a small work, Circus Bombay.

Rather unexpectedly, the series was exhibited at Helsinki Kunsthalle and received attention even on the main evening news.
